Somali government to repatriate nine citizens from Libya

Mogadishu At least nine Somali citizens being held in detention camps in Libya to return home on tomorrow, senior official told SONNA.

The first secretary of the Somali Embassy in Libya, Ayub Hashi Isse, said these youths are held by armed gang human-traffickers.

Isse says these youths  faced “horrific” conditions during in the captivity and urged young people to stop migrating and instead invest in their country.

For the last two decades, Libya has been the main starting point for African refugees and migrants crossing the Mediterranean in order to reach Europe.
