Somalia welcomes the agreement reached by Ethiopian government and the TPLF

Mogadishu, The Federal Republic of Somalia welcomes the announcement of the peace agreement reached by the Government of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) that ends the armed conflicts, and stressing that this agreement fulfils the aspirations of the Ethiopian people for development and prosperity and the unity.

The Federal Republic of Somalia commended efforts by the African Union in its valuable support for peace talks, congratulates the Republic of South Africa in hosting the peace talks, and the positive role of the Republic of Kenya in the agreement that augmenting stability in Ethiopia and the region.

The Federal Republic of Somalia stressed the importance of the agreement and consistently supports a peaceful, economically prosperous Ethiopia and the Horn of Africa which is free of violence and armed conflicts.

The Government of the Federal Republic of Somalia hopes this agreement “African problem-African Solution” will pave the way for a comprehensive Ethiopian-Ethiopian reconciliation that completely ends violence, internal strife and aspiration of secessionist, and above all promote prosperity, economic growth for Ethiopia the region and beyond.

As the path of peace is fraught with challenges that requires more perseverance, determination and trust, the Government and the people of Somalia will support this agreement become a lasting solution and a lesson to learn.
