Somalia takes a step forward in resilience to climate change

Mogadishu, The Minister of Environment and Climate Change of the Federal Government of Somalia, HE Khadija Mohamed Al-Makhzoumi participated in a meeting to approve the Adaptive Agriculture and Rangeland Rehabilitation Project (A2R2).

The Minister who chaired the meeting with the Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation of Somalia, Mr. Ahmed Madobe Nuunow underlined the importance of the project for the country and building resilience and adaptation to climate change.

The goal of this project is economic growth, agricultural production, pasture development, climate resilience, through the effective management of natural resources at different levels.

This project will be jointly worked by the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change and the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation, with the help of IFAD & GEF.

Minister Khadija concluded her statement by saying that the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change is committed to the development and protection of the environment and dealing with climate change.
