Security Council Committee on Somalia Briefed by Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime

On 14 October, the Security Council Committee pursuant to resolution 751 (1992) concerning Somalia held informal consultations to hear a briefing by the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, following the submission of the report of the Emergency Relief Coordinator, pursuant to paragraph 43 of resolution 2607 (2021), on the delivery of humanitarian assistance in Somalia and on any impediments thereof. The report has since been transmitted to the Security Council and issued as document S/2022/766.

Committee members also heard briefings by the Deputy Head of the Global Maritime Crime Programme, United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), and the Representative of UNODC’s New York Office, on UNODC’s efforts in supporting the implementation of resolution 2607 (2021), specifically, in the areas of maritime illicit trade and trafficking and countering the financing of terrorism.
