Residents accuses Al-Shabab making life “so miserable”

Mogadishu Residents in recent liberated areas of Hiiraan region accused Al-Shabaab making their life so miserable. Somali National Army with support of locals, captured over 30 villages.

Ali Abdulle, a community leader in the town of Beledweyne, told The Associated Press by phone that al-Shabab had made life for residents so miserable they had to fight back.

“Al-Shabab has burned our villages, blown up our wells and boreholes, destroyed telecommunication towers, planted IEDs and murdered civilians indiscriminately,” he said. “So there is no option left except to face them”.

Security forces are on mission amid at hunting down remnants of the terrorists as the radical group facing setbacks in the battlegrounds.

Hiiraan region governor, Ali Jayte Osman who is leading this military campaign, says “our brave soldiers slapped Al-Shabaab with battlefield setbacks”.

Somali National Army with support of locals so far managed to capture more than 30 areas and killed over 200 militants in large-scale ops across the country, according to data collected by SONNA.
