President Hassan hails religious scholars’ bold move on extremism

Mogadishu President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud on Saturday led leaders of the federal and state level partaking in the closing of the National Summit on Combating and Eradication of the Extremism Ideology.

The 5-day conference organized by the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs and participated by state level minister and scholars in the capital Mogadishu.

In a joint communique, the religious scholars say it’s haram forbidden in Islam to pay money to Al-Shabaab radical group, called for unity in fighting group.

The Head of State lauded clerics’ move, underlining that the government is committed to elimanate Al-Shabaab terrorists within upcoming years, and he exhorted on the public to stop financing directly to the militants.
