Minister of Agriculture receives head of FAO in Somalia

Mogadishu, The Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E Ahmed Madobe Nuunow (Ahmed Baashi) received the Head of the United Nation’s Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Somalia, Mr Peterschmitt Etienne.

The was started in an atmosphere of familiarity and communication, the meeting focused on projecting on the previous cooperation, the projects that have already been implemented, the achievements, the challenges, and the new projects that are expected to be implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture and FAO.

The issues that were discussed included the promotion of cooperation between the Ministry and FAO, dealing with emergency situations and the drought disaster that has returned to the country. The improvement of the country’s production and the development of farmers.

Finally, the Minister and the head of FAO evaluated and inspected the departments of the ministry, especially the Laboratory Department to ensure the quality of food production in the country. This department is one of the most important parts of the ministry.

Rome, The Minister of Justice and the Constitutional Affairs of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E Hassan Mo’alim Mohamud participated a meeting in Rome, Italy.

The Minister said, ”It was an honor for me to participate in the 50th anniversary of the Somali script and the presentation of the archives of Somali laws from 1950 to 1989. I thanked the University of Rome and the experts who were involved in the project such as Prof. Abdullah Mansur, Mr. Omar Addow and teacher Annarita Puglielli.

The volume and importance of this project means that electronically anyone who is interested can browse the archives of the laws of Somalia freely. Learning your history is the key to understanding what comes next.”

SNA forces capture Labi-Dulle village as the Al-Shabab terrorists fled

PM Hamza chairs the economic reform meeting

Mogadishu, The Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E Hamza Abdi Barre, chaired the economic reform meeting, he spoke in depth about the importance of the debt relief process for the country’s development and achieving economic self-sufficiency.

The Prime Minister urged the ministers to concentrate on how to complete all the laws in advance of the debt relief and pass it to the parliament by the end of this year so that the requirements of this period can be met by Somalia and move on to the next requirements.

The PM has stated that the strengthening of accountability and transparency play a major role in the government’s development plan, and all the ministries and other agencies concerned with the debt relief program will cooperate closely with him in the success of the ongoing efforts.

The Prime Minister also ordered the ministers to vigorously fight corruption in order to achieve transparency, and that will lead to a higher level of trust in the community and all stakeholders in Somalia.

The failure of the country’s debt relief program will lead to all the financial institutions of the world trusting our country, receiving international funding, creating more jobs that give opportunities to the youth, so that the domestic product will increase, and the country’s economy will grow.

President Hassan Sheikh meets his Sudanese counterpart

New York, The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, held a meeting with the Leader of the Supreme Council of Sudan, Mr. Abdifatah Abdirahman Al-Burhan, in New York.

The President shared the efforts of the Federal Government of Somalia to stabilize and develop the country, especially the joint struggle of the Somali people and the army to liberate the country from terrorism with his Sudanese counterpart.

The President thanked the people and the Government of Sudan for their continuous support to the Somali people who share a long-standing relationship based on cooperation and brotherhood.

The President of Sudan Abdulfatah Al-Burhan praised the Federal Government of Somalia for the steps taken to build the government, saying that his country continues to support and ensure the unity, security and development of Somalia.

The two presidents exchanged information on the situation in the region and the existing challenges, while President Hassan Sheikh told his Sudanese counterpart that the government and the Somali people are working with the vision of Somalia and the world in agreement, so they give priority to the reduction of conflicts and instability in Somalia.

President Hassan urges global to avert looming famine in Somalia

NEW YORK in his address at UN General Assembly, President Hassan Sheikh urged international partners to help the nation avert a looming famine.

“In Somalia, we are working tirelessly to transition from over two decades of devastating conflict, drought, famine and developmental stagnation to a new age of stability, progress and prosperity. However, despite our continuing efforts, Somalia and its resilient people are facing some of the most complex and interconnected crises in the world,” President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud told the annual General Debate.

The situation, he added, included ongoing regional drought, which directly threaten the lives and livelihoods of Somali’s most vulnerable communities.

The head of state called on Somalia’s partners to do everything possible to help avert a looming famine, which also threatens the wider Horn of Africa region.

“We urge all our partners to heed our call and work with us to provide immediate support and relief to the most affected communities,” the president stressed.
