IGAD CONDEMNS TERROR ATTACK ON NASA HABLOD HOTEL IN MOGADISHU AND MOURNS LOSS OF STATE MINISTER HAMZA
Djibouti: It is with deep sorrow that the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) learnt of the terror attack carried out by the Al Shabaab on June 25, 2016 at the Nasa Hablod Hotel in which innocent people lost their lives.
IGAD condemns in the strongest words possible the senseless violence incurred by this terror group known as a desperate group which has no respect for human life.
IGAD offers its heartfelt condolences to the Government and people of the Democratic Republic of Somalia and to the families who lost their loved ones. It also wishes speedy recovery to those who were injured in the attack at the Nasa Hablod Hotel.
IGAD mourns the loss of the State Minister of Environment of Somalia, H.E. Mr. Buri Hamza, a man of great knowledge and insight who was among the victims, depriving the IGAD region of one of its finest sons.
H.E. Mr. Hamza was a law maker and an Academic who led Somalia's delegation to the IGAD Ministerial Meeting on the Endorsement of the IGAD Regional Biodiversity Policy in Nairobi on June 3rd, 2016.
It is obvious from the Somali people's determination to rebuild their homeland that Al Shahab's atrocities cannot intimidate their indomitable spirit as they are equipped with boundless optimism and a great capacity for hard work.
