Competitiveness, Job Creation Project Implemented in Industrial Parks Concluded

Industrial Park Development Corporation announced today that the Competitiveness and Job Creation Project carried out for the past eight years with a total cost of 425 million USD obtained from the World Bank in Bole Lemi Industry Park Phase Two and Kilinto Industry Park has been official concluded. Contributing to job creation by attracting investments and improving enterprises competitiveness in the targeted industrial parks and linked domestic enterprises have been the objectives of the project.

Companies engaged in the two industrial parks have been provided with vital support with a view to address their raw material shortages and substitute imported raw material by encouraging domestic products as part of the project, it was indicated during the ceremony.

Domestic small scale and medium enterprises that are engaged in the production of raw materials have also been supported by the project.

Industrial Park Development Corporation CEO, Aklilu Tadesse said that World Bank support has been vital in ensuring citizen equity and competitiveness.

The project was implemented for the past eight years with a total cost of 425 million USD obtained from the World Bank in Bole Lemi Industry Park Phase Two and Kilinto Industry Parks.

Aklilu pointed out that the project was effective in developing the horizontal infrastructural development in the two parks apart from creating 10 thousand job opportunity to citizens and securing hard currency to the country.

He also commended the world Bank for the realization of the project during its implementation phase.

Bole Lemi 2 and Kilinto industrial Parks constructed with Support of World Bank as part of Competitiveness and Job Creation Project ( CJC).

World Bank Practice Manager Financial Competitiveness and Innovation Alwaleed Fareed on his part expressed his pleasure for the conclusion and completion of this very important project.

He also appreciated the achievements registered at this point in this time even if challenges going forward.

The gneiss of this project was essentially to provide job opportunities and improving economic growth opportunities for Ethiopia, Fareed said noting that the project achieved its objectives.
