AlShabab terrorists kills civilians drilling a well, burned their bodies

Mogadishu Al-Shabab militants on Friday killed 12 civilians drilling a well in drought-ravaged southern Somalia, a local resident and official said.

The latest attack happened in the town of Gariley in the southern Gedo region when the militants attacked the crew at its work site.

Terror group also burned dead bodies and drilling equipment, said Mahad Abdi, a local resident who visited the scene and counted the bodies.

The area is among several others suffering from the Horn of Africa’s worst drought in 40 years, leading the United Nations to warn of a very looming famine.

National Military seizes nine villages including strategic Basra

Mogadishu National Military on Friday took control of nine villages including Basra area of Middle Shabelle region from Al-Shabab terror group.

Defense Minister Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur told Somali National News Agency (SONNA) that troops also razed several AlShabab terror group barracks.

“These gains are achieved following a well-coordinated operations in the early house of this Friday,” the minister added.

In phone interview, he pointed out that the enemy fled, and troops faced no resistance, meaning no clash and casualties on Somali National Army (SNA).

Commissioner of Banadir Regional died in an operation against the terrorists

Minister of Information sends his condolences to Banadir Regional Commander

Mogadishu, The Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E Daud Aweys Jama condoled the death of the Police Commander of Banadir regional, Gen. Farhan Mohamud Adan (Qarole) who died in an explosion in Basro area, and prayed to Allah to shower his mercy on him.

Minister Daoud also expressed his condolences to the National Media Operators and his family on the death of journalist Ahmed Mohamed Shukur (Ahmed Sodal) who was the representative of Balad district in the Middle Shabelle region of the Somali National Television (SNTV) and was one of the martyrs of the explosion in Basra.

“They were heroes who died while serving their people, we will not forget how they sacrificed their lives for the nation,” said the Minister of Information.

May God have mercy on journalist Ahmed Sodal who was a hero in carrying out his national duty of reporting on the operation to eradicate terrorism.

SNA forces spoke with the Barire community

Officers of the Somali National Army Forces spoke to hundreds of people at the Great Mosque in Barire, today after Friday prayers.

The commander of the 18th Bataillon of the Somali Amry, Lieutenant General Liban Yusuf Garre and other officials have informed the people on the ongoing uprising to expel the terrorist group from the country.

The officials also said that the Armed Forces are ready to defend the nation from the terrorist group at a moment’s notice.

On the other hand, the officials who spoke to the community today at the Great Mosque of Barire promised that the Army and the Government will work together.

The National Army in Barire area has repaired the bridge in the area which was destroyed by the insurgents.

The meeting was attended by the Director General, Director of Departments, Consultants and project participants lasted for two days.

The first part of the meeting was chaired by the State Minister of the Ministry of Public Works, Mr. Bashir Mohamed Jama (Gobe), reports were presented on how to improve the work of the Ministry.

Departments of Planning, Reconstruction, Housing, Maintenance of Construction Materials and Regional Roads Construction Project Manager (RIP) presented their current works and plans.

Bucharest, The Minister of Communications and Technologies of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E Jama Hassan Khalif, participated in the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Leadership Election.

The meeting of the Member States of the International Telecommunication Union known as ITU is underway in Bucharest, Romania. A delegation led by the Minister of Communications and Technology is participating on behalf of Somalia.

The Minister of Communications congratulated the new leadership, and highlighted the importance of working to bring the developing countries to those who are advanced in the field of technology and communication, and work together so that everyone in the world would have access to communication services that they can afford and can rely on.

The conference, which opened on September 24, will continue until October 14.
