Somali Minister of Internal Security meets his Serbian counterpart

The Minister of Internal Security of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E Mohamed Sheikh Ali (Discussion) had an official meeting with the Minister of Internal Affairs and Security of Serbia, Mr. Bratislav Gašic. In the meeting, the two Ministers discussed the strengthening of relations between the Federal Republic of Somalia and the Republic of Serbia, especially cooperation in the field of security. Minister Gašic said that Serbia will support Somalia in security because the Federal Government and the Somali people have achieved important victories in the fight against terrorism. The two Ministers agreed that the two countries should have security cooperation.

Driver docked over alleged manslaughter

A 45- year-old man, Bayo Oluyomi, on Tuesday appeared in an Ikeja Magistrate’s Court charged with manslaughter.

Oluyomi, a driver who resides at 48, Dipo Akindele Street, Otta, Ogun, is facing a one-count charge of manslaughter.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Rapheal Donny told the court that the defendant committed the offence on March 6, along Oshodi Expressway, Lagos.

Donny said that the defendant drove in a reckless manner and knocked down a pedestrian, Miss Tolulope Ogunkorede who died on the spot.

He said that the offence contravened Section 52 of the Road Traffic Laws of Lagos State, 2018.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Magistrate, Mrs O. A. Odubayo granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Odubayo adjourned the case until April 26 for mention.
